Greetings all,
Here it is late afternoon on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, and I’m finally getting around to penning this month’s Tail Board Talk. Perhaps I should not go out of town on a holiday weekend at the beginning of the month. Especially to watch your team lose their opening game on the
road.
I wish I could say welcome to fall, but fall does not seem to be anywhere in our near future. It’s still hot out there. What I can say for certain is football is back. If you can’t wait for fall and football, welcome to the club. I love this time of year when college football rolls around and not to be left out high school football is also in full swing. We here at TDFR are excited for and ready to support your Theodore Bobcats. Look for us in the South end zone at all the home games proudly displaying the colors and supporting our home team. Stop by and say hello and chat up the crew that is there.
In other fire department news, we set a response record with 474 calls for the month of August. Folks are keeping the department busy with their request for emergency services. We are continuing to work and move forward with our building purchase on Three Notch at McFarland.
We desperately want to get that building firehouse functional and get units in service out there. It will provide some much-needed relief to our current response plan and better response service to our Dawes and western sectors. After several months of discussion, we, the department, and the district board, made some adjustments to an apparatus purchase and I’m excited to say that we have one more payment and our ladder truck will be paid in full. At some point after that, it is our desire and plan to begin looking into the process of constructing a new and modern Central Fire Station on our property on Schillinger Rd. I’m excited for the future of this department and
the communities we serve. I believe our future is bright and ripe for progress. We look forward to growing with our communities and providing you with superior service.
Thank you for your support and as always, be safe.
